Peter & Esther Scarborough
(Leigh, Mim & Amy)
Peter and Esther and family served with WEC in East Java from 1994 to 1997 returning to Australia due to illness. In 2002, they returned to Indonesia with IFC (International Friends of Compassion) to assist in efforts to provide aid to more than 50,000 refugees in and around Manado. They have since relocated to the island of Halmahera in North Maluku. They have been a light of hope in saving lives of so many and relieving the suffering of thousands. Peter is the IFC Project Manager for the Medical, Children's home and Water Filter projects in North Maluku. Esther is Medical Director and leads 30 Indonesian medical workers and two clinics. The clinics provide free medical treatments for those who come to them for help. They also train refugees as primary health care workers, have tuberculosis and leprosy programs, oversee (many thanks to founders Ray & Rosemary Huxtable together with David & Cindy) a children's home as well as a water filter program to provide safe water in villages. The new base of operations is being developed at Kusuri. Peter and Esther foster three Indonesian children - Della (12), Viktor (2) and Theresa (1).
Prayer Points
- Praise for recent development of the base. The electricity has been connected and Rotary International are assisting in building a patient ward (to commence in November).
- Pray for strength and good health.
- Pray for formal clinic registration to be finalised (papers apparently lost in the local health department).
