Ian & Betty Rowse

From 1961–1986, Ian and Betty worked in Papua New Guinea for A.P.C.M. They were married in Papua New Guinea in 1964. From 1986–1989, Ian was Associate Director of A.P.C.M. in Melbourne. They returned to Tari, PNG from 1989–1994 where Ian was Mission Liaison Officer. In 1995, Ian took up the role of Director of A.P.C.M. in Australia. In 1997, A.P.C.M. combined with another mission to become Pioneers of Australia. Ian became the first Director. In late 1999, in Pioneers, they took up a new role - giving oversight to Pioneers personnel working in North Africa and the Middle East. This involved considerable travel to encourage workers in these hard and challenging areas with a focus on Muslim people.

Since 2004, Ian has served as Special Projects Co-ordinator for the Pioneers National Office in Melbourne, including a major role in the development of the new Pioneers Office in Blackburn. He continues to have an active interest in leadership development in PNG, visiting there regularly. For many years Betty has been preparing the monthly prayer notes highlighting the needs of Pioneers' Australian workers. Ian and Betty were CCW’s first missionaries.
